About "Love Every Challenge"
In the beginning of October 24 youth workers from 8 different countries – Netherlands, Poland, Latvia, Spain, Portugal, Romania, Latvia, Finland and Croatia – met to learn how to use outdoor adventure education in youth work - an experiential method of learning incorporating the use of all senses, that generally takes place through interaction with the natural environment.
The training course was held from 8th to 16th of October in Outward Bound Croatia newly opened educational centre in Veliki Žitnik, Croatia. The goal of the training course was to encourage the use and understanding of outdoor adventure education in youth work, providing the participants with the needed skills and knowledge to use it. |

Main focus of outdoor adventure education is on educational nature of the experiences, close interaction with the outdoor environment, elements of real or perceived risk and uncertain outcomes, thereby during the training course, participants experienced different activities like orienteering, rock climbing, hiking, staying outdoors and setting up a camp, outdoor cooking, as well as different teambuilding exercises using outdoor education methods, that can later be used to facilitate and encourage learning process of young people.
To encourage participants to show initiative and use the skills and knowledge about outdoor adventure education, during the training they also worked in their national teams developing a social project that answered to a relevant problem or a need of the community back at home chosen by the participants, using different project management and marketing strategies learned during the training. Some of the projects were more connected with healthy food and sastainable living, while others were focused on using the outdoor adventure education as a part of study curriculum.
We’re thankful to all the instructors, participants and partner organizations – Piedzīvojuma Gars (Latvia), Stichting Buitendoor (Netherlands), Outward Bound Finland (Finland), Centrum Edukacji Nieformalnej I Outdooru (Poland), EuropeMov CRL (Portugal), Outward Bound Romania (Romania) and Asociacion Experientia (Spain) - for the support and inspiration during the planning and implementation of the project.
